Chinese-style box substation, also shorted as Chinese-type transformer, is a localized prefabricated substation. It differs from American-style and European-style box transformers.

1. Small Floor Space & Lower Investment

Different from European box substation, Chinese-style box substation cancels independent transformer room. Its overall footprint is much smaller.

It adopts the inlet and outlet wiring structure of American transformer. This design saves a large amount of copper materials. Its total equipment cost is lower than European box substation, cutting customers’ investment costs.

2. Safer Operation with Busbar Connection

Busbars are adopted to connect high voltage switches and transformers. This structure effectively eliminates hidden safety risks caused by cable connection during long-term operation.

3. Split Independent Chamber Design

The isolating knife, arc extinguishing chamber and fuse of high voltage switch are placed in separate chambers.

When replacing fuses or arc extinguishing parts, there is no need to cut off power of the whole circuit. Single-unit maintenance will not affect the normal operation of other wind turbines.

4. Open Radiator for Full Natural Cooling

Drawing on the strengths of American box transformers, the radiator of the oil-immersed transformer is installed in an open layout. It achieves full natural ventilation.

This design reduces power consumption from cooling fans. It also avoids over-temperature tripping failures caused by unreliable forced air cooling fans. All live components are fully sealed inside the cabinet, realizing good dustproof performance.
